Get Involved!

The vision for Knit the Bridge:

Sign Up Over Here to Get Involved

   Knit the Bridge is a

                       community-made,

                                       community-installed

                                                         and community-supported

          Public Art Project

That means we need you to help make it happen!

There are many fun ways to get involved:

  1. Knit or Crochet – Help us celebrate the many diverse communities of Pittsburgh and Southwestern Pennsylvania by knitting and crocheting panels to cover a bridge.   Before getting started, get more information at our Make a Panel! instruction page.
  2. Organize a Meet-Up -  Help us include and reach out to as many Pittsburghers as possible by organizing a knit or crochet meet-up in your neighborhood or township.  Form a knitting circle with a bunch of your friends, teach a classroom of students to crochet at your local school, or learn from longtime knitters at senior centers in your community.  For more information on organizing a Knit the Bridge gathering attend our monthly Community Leaders Meetings and RSVP knitthebridge@gmail.com.
  3. Donate Materials – Help others participate by donating yarn, knitting needles, and crochet hooks.  For more information on types of materials and drop off points see our list of Drop Off Points.

Reminder: We are currently working with the bridge’s keepers and the Office of Public Art to ensure the full success and safety of this project moving forward.
