Where KtB is Headed in the New Year

These Scarves and Blankets made from Railing Covers from Knit the Bridge went to Polk State School and Hospital for residents at holiday time.

Happy New Year!

Knit the Bridge lives on in 2014 with railings, railings, railings…

We are still re-purposing railings. With 900 railing covers, we’ve only got 400-600ish left to re-purpose.  Piece of cake.

We’ve had a plethora of railings-turned scarves and blankets come in over the past month. Thanks to Judy Manion and countless other volunteers who helped assemble KtB’s leftovers. We like to think these pieces are especially useful this cold winter. You can turn in other finished scarves and blankets at the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh potluck on January 23rd.

Want to get involved? Save the Date: February 13th

Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse is hosting us for their February Open Studio on Thursday, February 13th from 6-8pm for a Railing to Scarf Party. We have had a request from East End Cooperative Ministry for 50 Bridge Scarves.

Help us make it possible. We need folks who can stitch bridges onto the scarves using yarn needles and yarn.  We also need folks who can help us resize, crochet borders, and bind off railing covers that are just a little too tall for human usage.  Don’t have these skills?  We can show you how!

This is also a great opportunity to share your creative ideas for railing re-purposing with us.  We will have extras for folks to play with.  And the Creative Reuse bulk section is free to use!

More warm, cozy railings turned blankets

Amanda, Weather permitting, I can join you on Feb. 13 Are you referring to the place in bakery square where we turned in our panels for the bridge? I still have the scarf I worked on and was expecting to give you on Jan 23. As you are aware, I did not make it to the pot luck but I will bring it with me on the 13th. Tobey
